Life never fails to guide me on what I should discuss next. Anything I feel compelled to talk about typically arrives because I see a pattern among many of my interactions with people. For example, have you ever decided to buy a car and initially thought, “I never see anyone in this model/color car”, but once you buy it all you seem to see is that car?
Funny how that happens, but this is also what happens with health topics I discuss. A topic will peak my interest and within no time more people are randomly discussing the topic. When I see a pattern in discussions I know it’s my time to talk about it. More times than not whatever your health question or concern is, many others have the same questions and concerns.
ARE YOU STILL TELLING YOURSELF YOU CAN’T?
So what seems to be the topic of discussion lately? Telling yourself you can’t. It is pretty common in my line of work to hear “I don’t have time, I’m not sure how, or I just can’t fit it into my day”. This is pretty surface level and easy for me to fix!
If you feel you don’t have time… I will find your time. I run a business, have four children, homeschool them, and still find time to prioritize my health. I can find your time. I am a master at finding the time!
If you feel you don’t have time… I will find your time.
But I have found there is a deeper level of reasoning that happens when we continue to tell ourselves we can’t do something. When it comes to our health many of us have created lifelong patterns of not listening to our bodies and trusting our instincts. Much of this comes from trusting people we believe know what they are talking about, or trends that appear successful for others.
I have had a lot of conversations with people who have come to me wanting to resolve health issues or just to talk about their health issues. Many times I hear “I have this issue and I know I can’t fix it but maybe I could make the symptoms a bit better”. It is so interesting to me how many times people come to me to discuss one health issue when in reality they have quite a few things going on.
MOST HEALTH CONDITIONS CAN BE RESOLVED
We get so good at compartmentalizing our health and focusing on a small piece of the whole picture. Unless you were born with a genetic or chromosomal condition, most health conditions can be resolved. Conditions such as Down Syndrome and Cystic Fibrosis cannot be cured but there is nothing saying you can’t make it better on a day to day basis with nutrition.
Genetic and chromosomal conditions are not the same as what I like to call ‘lifestyle’ diseases.
Lifestyle Disease: Not intentionally trying to make yourself sick, but through a lifetime of learning, since infancy, you have been conditioned to enjoy a certain way of eating. Your culture, way of life and eating, gradually breaks down your gut and produces disease symptoms. It is a long process created by our way of life.
These diseases are conditions such as
- Lupus,
- Type-2-Diabetes,
- Celiac,
- Eczema,
- seasonal allergies,
- auto-immune diseases (and I mean EVERY auto-immune disease),
- high blood pressure,
- cancer,
- cholesterol, etc.
The problem with lifestyle diseases is they typically take years for individuals to recognize, and many times it’s difficult to determine the underlying cause. If you have a peanut allergy you will have a reaction immediately. You can quickly determine you ate a peanut and it is making you sick.
Lifestyle diseases are quite the opposite. If you have an inflammation issue that is gradually getting worse over time and your food choices are exacerbating it, it is going to be difficult to truly figure out the underlying cause.
COMPLETE CHANGE IS NECESSARY…. AND POSSIBLE
I spoke to a client and after our discussion I said most of their issues seem to be stemming from dairy. They then stated they only have dairy on occasion. So I made my point with this example, if I had a baseball bat and only hit you occasionally would that be ok, or would you rather me not do it at all?
This is exactly what your body is going through in these instances, and you need to completely stop and change to actually see results!
This is when you start to tell yourself you can’t. We have been conditioned to go to a medical doctor, tell them what our symptoms are, be given medication, and sent on our way with an unfixable new diagnosis.
I went through it! I was told I had Celiac, anxiety, allergies, each one coming with a new prescription and mindset that it was something I just had to live with and can’t fix.
IT’S A BIG FAT LIE!
The great news is, it’s a big fat lie. You absolutely can fix these lifestyle diseases and I have figured out how. I changed my nutrition, my daily habits, and how I dealt with stress. It may have taken some time but I figured out how to prioritize myself.
There is nothing I believe can’t be made better by changing a few things. So the problem comes when we don’t believe that we can, when we accept the story that it’s not changeable, when we believe we are stuck with this health condition, and I see it so often! This doesn’t only pertain to health, this is true in every aspect of our lives.
This doesn’t only pertain to health, this is true in every aspect of our lives.
You have to stop telling yourself there is nothing you can do, stop telling yourself you can’t change it, fix it, or overcome it.
LET’S CHANGE YOUR LIFE
Change your mindset and language, I can help with that as well but you need to have a seed of belief. You have astronomical power over your health; you can heal yourself and I can show you how!
