Signs You Might Have A Gut-Health Issue: Stomach Aches

Signs You Might Have A Gut-Health Issue_ Stomach Aches

Hello friends! I wanted to start a mini series on identifying gut health issues as I find so many of my clients do not associate health issues they are having as a gut health issue. Mood disorders or depression are highly linked to gut health, yet many of my clients do not associate the two.

So I want to address some ways that you can identify you have some gut health healing to do. First on the list, stomach aches!

STOMACH ACHES START IT ALL

A stomach ache, gas, bloating, acid-reflux, any of the common digestive issues are huge red flags that your gut health needs some attention. These really are the first signs many people experience before more serious conditions occur. If when you eat certain foods you get gassy, maybe just have a slight stomach ache, have some bloating, maybe a bit of heartburn, tune-in to these symptoms as it is an indication your gut needs some healing. While these issues are very common among people, because traditional diets are not gut friendly, it is not ‘normal’ for your body to behave this way.

Traditional diets are not gut friendly.

Many times we experience food sensitivities and we do not recognize it for quite some time. I experienced a ton of stomach issues as a kid that continued to get worse as I got older. It got to the point where I knew I would either be in the bathroom constantly after eating, my stomach would blow up as if I was 8 months pregnant, or I would be up all night with stomach pains.

I lived off of Pepto Bismol and Tums. I began restricting what I ate because I really did not know what was triggering it. I absolutely began to live in fear.

DIFFICULTY IN FINDING THE ROOT CAUSES

Here is why it gets difficult to address. Most times my symptoms didn’t come right after eating, so I couldn’t nail down a specific food. Other times symptoms were mild or non-existent. Sometimes I felt stressed and figured that was sending me into bouts of nausea and diarrhea. All of these things make it difficult to nail down if it is a food sensitivity issue.

Other times it can be a lack of or abundance of stomach acid. This too can be caused by what we eat or medications. What is important to remember is just because food sensitivities can occur in different parts of the digestive tract, they ultimately begin in the stomach.

Many times we heal one issue and several other issues heal alongside it.

The great news is we can heal these issues! With some time, education, and persistence you can get your body on track to heal and function the way it should. Many times we heal one issue and several other issues heal alongside it.

TIMELINE OF GUT HEALTH SYMPTOMS

For example I sought out healing my Celiac Disease and when I got my gut health on track I no longer experienced those menacing menopause symptoms. Seasonal allergy symptoms, gone. Anxiety symptoms, gone. This is why I call it a gut timeline because there is a root cause that connects them all.

Our bodies are very resilient and want to be healthy, but it does take time. When we have periods of not putting food in our bodies, such as sleeping, our bodies go into repair mode, but then we wake up, eat a pop-tart or bagel or some other form of processed food and have to start over.

While these things give us some nutritional value, calories that are needed, ultimately we are feeding that root problem. This is where my 12-Week Gut Reset Program is beneficial! I have clients undergo this program and feel so much better afterwards. They see huge improvements in their health and symptoms, and many times things they aren’t even focusing on such as joint pain go away as well.
